This sophisticated yet easy Apple Cider Old Fashioned requires no obscure ingredients or cocktail shaker, but will make you feel like a fancy bartender.

Apple cider old fashioned cocktails in two different glasses (1 tall, 1 short), on a tray with a whole apple.

Apple Cider Old Fashioned

It’s fall here in Michigan, which means one thing – apple season! Today, I’m sharing an apple cider version of my favorite cocktail – the old fashioned.

This apple cider bourbon cocktail recipe incorporates the classic elements of an old fashioned – bitters, orange peel and bourbon, but with a few unique twists.

Instead of the traditional sugar cube that’s usually muddled with the orange peel to add sweetness, I am using maple syrup to sweeten this apple cider old fashioned!

Most old fashioneds do not have any sort of “mixer” added to them – they are, essentially, bourbon over ice, with a little bit of sugar and bitters. While I love them the classic way, I will admit that sometimes, it’s a little strong for me.

So, topping this old fashioned off with apple cider makes it a little more of an easy drinking cocktail.

Why you will love this Apple Cider Bourbon Cocktail

  • No cocktail shaker needed. Make as many or as few servings as you want, right in the glasses they’ll be served in.
  • No fancy ingredients needed, either. If you have a fairly stocked bar cabinet, an orange, and some apple cider, you’re all set.
  • Omit the bourbon for a great mocktail idea.

This Bourbon Lemon Rosemary Cocktail is a modern twist on a classic bourbon sour recipe. With herb-infused simple syrup and a bright citrus flavor, it’s perfect for happy hour.

A rosemary cocktail filled with crushed ice, a rosemary sprig and a dried lemon wheel, on a wooden tray.

A Bourbon Lemon Cocktail perfect for happy hour

A well-made bourbon sour (or bourbon smash drink) is a refreshing joy to drink. Made with bourbon and a generous amount of simple syrup and lemon juice, it’s sweet while still being well, sour.

But what if you could elevate the experience even more? This Bourbon Rosemary Cocktail only requires adding a few sprigs of rosemary to the pot while you’re making the simple syrup.

This rosemary-infused simple syrup is also the backbone of my cranberry rosemary cocktail, grapefruit vodka cocktail and rosemary gin cocktail.

Today, we’re using it for a sophisticated yet approachable twist on a classic bourbon sour.

Why you will love this Lemon Bourbon Rosemary Drink

  • A great way to use up extra rosemary you have on hand.
  • A way to elevate even a not-so-luxe bottle of bourbon.
  • Super easy measurements and no special bartending skills required.

The perfect Rosemary Syrup Recipe for whisky, gin, vodka or mocktails!

Whether it’s summer and I have lots of it in my garden, or it’s fall and I have some leftover after making butternut squash noodles, it seems like I often have extra rosemary I want to use up.

If you can relate, and you love a great cocktail, I suggest you try this fresh homemade Rosemary Simple Syrup.

Two hammered copper mugs filled with a Kentucky mule cocktail, garnished with lime wedges and mint sprigs.

This Kentucky Mule Recipe might just change your life!

I think in the past decade or so, we’ve all become quite familiar with Moscow mules. I’ve certainly published my fair share here, with everything from a strawberry mule for summer to a grapefruit mule for winter and a caramel apple mule for fall.

Are you ready to elevate your cocktail game with a twist on a classic Moscow mule that is great all year ’round?

This Kentucky bourbon mule recipe is a refreshing concoction that is the perfect balance of sweet, spicy and tangy in every sip.

This basil lemonade tastes like summer in a glass!

If you love fancy flavored lemonades at restaurants but don’t love paying a premium for them, you’ll be pleasantly surprised with how easy this Basil Lemonade is to make at home.

Especially if you have a pot of basil growing this summer, this is the refreshing beverage you’ll want in your fridge at all times.

It’s simply an easy homemade basil simple syrup combined with fresh lemon juice and water. If you want, you can even add some pureed watermelon to take it to the next level and make watermelon basil lemonade.

This refreshing but not too sweet Lemon Shandy recipe is made with homemade lemonade and wheat beer. Easy measurements yield exactly four shandies.

Glasses of lemon shandy garnished with lemon wedges and fresh mint in front of a patterned blue background.

This lemon shandy recipe is fresh, sparkling and so refreshing!

If you love the IDEA of a lemon shandy more than you actually love the pre-mixed bottled versions, this recipe is for you.

Personally, I think the idea of an ice cold beer with some lemonade in it sounds so refreshing. But the big, well known brand of bottled summer shandy is just too sweet for me. About half a bottle, and I’m totally done with it.

This homemade lemon beer is the perfect balance of lemonade that isn’t too sweet, sparkling water for bubbles, and wheat beer.

Why you will love this lemon beer

  • Lemony but not too sweet. You won’t get heartburn from a drink with too much sugar!
  • Made with simple ingredients you probably already have on hand.
  • Easy to prep in advance. Make the simple syrup ahead of time and you’re all set to stir up your shandies whenever you’re ready.
